The native range of this species is Central Malesia to South West Pacific.

It is a palm grows to a 30 m tall. Leaves pinnate, leaf base spreaded, leaves form crown. Leaves arranged spirally at the top of the trunk. Inflorescence a spadix, with boat shaped spathe. Flowers small, pale yellow to white in colour.
