Description

The native range of species is from Mexico to Central America.

It is a semiwoody shrub or small tree reaches up to height of 6-15 ft., displays spreading growth form. Leaves are bipinnately compound. Leaflets are oblong, glossy green. Flowers are produced in raceme. Red, yellow to orange coloured, possess crinkled petals with slender stalk. Stamens are distinct, long attracting pollinators. Fruit an elongated pod, 7.5- 15 cm.
