Trees with conical crown, usually buttressed at base. Male flowers: 3-8 in axillary and terminal fascicles. Stamens inserted on torus. Female flowers: in terminal cymes. Berries spherical, purple orange-pink, pulp red, acidic, fleshy. Seeds compressed.
