Ancistroides
folus, the Reverdin\'s Sprite or Dark-tipped Sprite, is a butterfly species
found in tropical Asia, including India, Southeast Asia, and the Philippines.
Its wingspan measures 30-40 mm. The upper wings are dark brown with orange or
yellow markings, while the lower wings display brown with orange or yellow
spots.
This
butterfly inhabits open grasslands, woodland edges, and wetlands. Active during
warm weather, they feed on nectar from flowers. Males engage in territorial
battles, while females lay eggs on host plants, typically grasses.
The
life cycle consists of four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis),
and adult. Caterpillars feed on specific grasses.
