The native range of this species is Central Ethiopia to South Africa, Comoros.

It is scrambling perennial herb. The stems are long, slender, and vine-like. Leaves of plant are the primary feature of the plant and resemble fine, soft needles or fronds. Leaflets are very thin and linear, giving the plant a lacy and airy appearance.
