Large trees. Stems annulate, bottle shaped. Leaves large crowded at the neds top, petioles enclosing stem; leaflets linear-ensiform. Flowers greenish-white, numerous in spathes. Spadices 3-4 simultaneously. Drupes small, elliptic-ovate, striated.

Commonly cultivated in gardens as avenue trees.
