A prostrate glabrous annual; stems striate. Leaves obovate, obtuse, often notched at the tip, base tapering. Flowers in axillary clusters. Perianth pale pink; sepals membranous, awned and with a strong midnerve. Capsules circumscissile about the middle.

A common weed in cultivated lands. It is considered as a wild vegetable.
